About event

Join CAWA for an epic long weekend of climbing in the stunning Stirling Range! This adventure is perfect for those looking to explore the breathtaking multi-pitch routes and rugged trad climbing this region is known for. Whether you’re an experienced climber seeking a challenge or seeking more outdoor experience, this trip is a great way to connect with the community and make the most of the Labour Day long weekend.

Expect stellar shale faces, dramatic ridgelines, and unforgettable views-plus plenty of downtime to relax and enjoy the scenery. As always, this is a self-sufficient trip, so come prepared with your own climbing gear, camping supplies, and food. Carpooling can be arranged among participants.

Stirling Range NP offers heaps of trad routes of various grades and some sport routes, generally starting in the low 20s with a few 19s available. Please be aware of your skills before you sign up and check in with the trip organiser if you are not sure. This trip is not beginner-friendly; you need to know your stuff.

We will be spoiled for choice as there is so much climbing on Southern Buttress at Mt Trio at Toolbrunup, Talyuberlup, Barnett Peak (if you are a solid bushwalker) and of course on Bluff Knoll which will be our main objective for the trip.

Come along for three days of adventure, climbing, and camaraderie in one of WA’s most spectacular climbing destinations!

? Getting There: Stirling Range National Park is about a 4.5-hour drive from Perth. We encourage carpooling-let us know if you need a ride or can offer one.

⚠️ Important: This is not a guided event. Participants are responsible for their own safety, gear, and skills. CAWA does not provide instruction or supervision.

We will camp at Mt Trio Bushcamp & Caravan Park, which has all the required facilities and magnificent views. Moreover, it’s close to all crags. Please scroll through their website if you haven’t been there yet. We won’t have a booking but will do our best to secure a spot to camp together. You’ll be required to pay for the camping on arrival. Last time, they accepted credit cards, but we suggest having cash ready just in case. The current price is $23 per adult per night.

Requirements

At CAWA, safety is our top priority. All participants must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Climbers are independent and are responsible for themselves.

  • Inexperienced climbers must partner with an experienced climber before the trip.

  • All participants must sign a Deed of Release and Indemnity (if they haven’t done so previously), book the camping, and complete the participants’ form below.

  • A parent, guardian, or responsible/qualified adult must accompany climbers under 18 years old.

  • If you’re newish to climbing, be sure to check out CAWA Trips for additional information and reach out to us via email.

To get more psyched, flick through the old Guide book (1995), where you will probably find the most info, have a look at theCrag, our miniguides and as well search the forum. Heaps of information can be found there.
