What we do
Representing and supporting WA climbers
Since 1968, CAWA has been the collective voice of climbers in Western Australia โ protecting access, supporting members, and building community.
Representation & access
We're the central body representing climbers to land managers, sporting bodies and government โ essential work for protecting and maintaining crag access across WA.
Codes of conduct
We develop codes of conduct that encourage responsible climbing and help avoid conflict with land managers, other user groups and fellow climbers.
Trips & gatherings
We organise weekend club trips across the state and regular gym crashes, creating opportunities to meet climbing partners and build community.
Coaching & courses
We run coaching and training activities and arrange member courses through third-party providers at discounted rates.
Western Climber
We publish the Western Climber newsletter and maintain the website and community channels that keep WA climbers informed and connected.
Partnerships & recognition
As a recognised State Active Recreation Organisation, we hold formal partnerships โ including an MOU with DBCA โ to represent climbers' interests.
Governance
Managed by a committee
A committee manages CAWA. Matters that need to be brought to the committeeโs attention should be addressed to the CAWA Secretary.
