About event

Step beyond the bolts-learn the art of traditional climbing.
Ready to take the next step in your climbing journey? If you've been sport climbing and are eager to learn the fundamentals of traditional (trad) climbing, this course is for you!

Join us for a hands-on Introduction to Traditional Climbing workshop designed to equip you with the essential skills to safely place protection, build anchors, and climb on gear. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, you’ll gain confidence in lead climbing and seconding while understanding the principles of risk management in trad climbing.

  • Anchor building and gear removal

  • Top belay, rappelling

  • Trad lead climbing techniques and route assessment

  • Understanding trad ethics and crag etiquette

Register Your Team

We will be staying at Gracetown Caravan Park. The camping fee from Friday to Sunday is included in the registration fee.

The workshop will run on Saturday from 8:30 am - 5 pm. Sunday will be left optional to have some fun and put the new skills into practice.

Requirements
  • must have a gym lead pass

  • must be comfortable climbing grade 16+ on lead outdoors

  • must be comfortable with cleaning sport routes outdoors

  • have your own harness, shoes, helmet, chalk bag, belay device and personal safety (PAS, slings, etc.)

Safety is a number one priority in all our workshops. Those who register but don’t meet the prerequisites above will not be allowed to participate.

This is an intensive, skill-focused workshop, ideal for climbers who already have experience in lead climbing indoors and sport climbing outdoors and are looking to expand their skills into the world of trad.

Guides: Elinor, Peter and Jiri
