About event
Embark on an exhilarating adventure this Easter with CAWA's annual trip to Peak Charles, a majestic granite dome nestled within the Peak Charles National Park. Located approximately 630 km east of Perth-southeast of Norseman and north-northwest of Esperance-this remote destination promises exceptional rock climbing experiences that are well worth the journey.
Whether you're tackling the classic multi-pitch routes or exploring new lines, this is a trip not to be missed! Evenings will be spent around the campfire*, sharing stories, beta, and good times.

Climbing Opportunities:
Route Grades: Climbs range from grade 11 to 27, catering to a variety of skill levels.
Pitch Details: Routes average five pitches in length, predominantly requiring traditional (trad) climbing techniques.
Notable Trad Routes:
A Walk In The Park 13: Western Australia's longest climb, spanning 500 meters over 13 pitches.
Juluka 18, Badile 11, Beckoning Horizon 19, Spartacus 19
Important Considerations:
Experience Level: This trip is not beginner-friendly; participants must possess substantial climbing experience.
Sport Climbing: Sport routes are limited and generally advanced (Grade 22+), with few exceptions.
Notable Sport Routes:
Egyptian Shadow 25, 15m
Mr Pharmacist 24, 40m
Double Scorpion 23, 15m
French Connections 25, 30m
Given the multi-pitch nature of these routes, it's essential that at least one member of each climbing party possesses substantial experience. While we welcome all enthusiastic climbers, beginners must ensure they are accompanied by an appropriately experienced individual.
For detailed route information, consult the CAWA Miniguide and resources available on theCrag.

⚠️ Important: This is not a guided event. Participants are responsible for their own safety, gear, and skills. CAWA does not provide instruction or supervision.
Camping and Transport
We'll be camping at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) campsite at Peak Charles. Please note:
National Parks Pass: Each vehicle requires a valid pass to access the park. To minimise costs, carpooling is encouraged.
Facilities: Basic amenities are available, including drop toilets. There is no running water, so all participants must be entirely self-sufficient.
Access: Reaching the area involves traversing dirt roads. A 4WD is beneficial, but with favourable weather conditions, careful driving in a standard vehicle is possible. We'll monitor weather conditions and update participants accordingly.
