Specialise in guiding and instructing climbers on sport routes.

The Sport Climbing Instructor (SCI) course, delivered by Adventure Training Consultants, focuses on teaching and supervising climbers in sport-climbing environments. Sitting between SPG and MPG, this qualification blends technical rope-system skills with movement coaching and risk management on bolt-protected routes.

You will cover:

• Safe and efficient use of bolted anchors

• Route selection and risk assessment on sport crags

• Coaching movement and lead progression

• Lower-off management and coaching lead climbers

• Managing multiple clients on sport routes

• Problem solving and client safety considerations

SCI is ideal for climbers who support outdoor programs on bolted crags, lead-climbing coaches wanting more outdoor structure, and SPG-qualified guides working in sport-specific settings.

CAWA strongly encourages members seeking structured progression in outdoor skills to consider nationally recognised ACIA training as part of their development.

This is not a CAWA-run event. CAWA is only sharing this course as a recommended training opportunity.
