The Single Pitch Guide (SPG) training course expands on the foundational TRG competencies and moves into leading and supervising climbers on single-pitch natural crags. Delivered by Adventure Training Consultants, this course develops the technical rigging, judgement, and instructional awareness required for assessment at the SPG level.

Training includes:

• Lead climbing considerations for guiding

• Anchor construction for single-pitch scenarios

• Belay systems and client management

• Edge protection and terrain risk assessment

• Instructional sequencing and climbing-movement coaching

• Problem-solving and incident management

SPG is ideal for experienced top-rope guides ready to progress, community leaders who support climbing trips, and climbers seeking greater confidence. This training is the standard pathway toward Sport Climbing Instructor (SCI) or Multi Pitch Guide (MPG).

CAWA strongly encourages members seeking to upskill, support community trips, or instruct safely in outdoor environments to consider ACIA-accredited training.

This is not a CAWA-run event. CAWA is only sharing this course as a recommended training opportunity.
